Chautauqua Healthcare Services is a private, not-for-profit community mental health center in Walton County. We offer a comprehensive array of quality mental health and substance abuse treatment services, including outpatient counseling, adult residential services, our-history-buttonprevention education, psychiatric treatment, crisis counseling, case management, screening and referral, and wellness programming for all ages.

Community Involvement

2-1-1 Service
Chautauqua Healthcare Services' 2-1-1 service has been designed to strengthen the health and human service information and referral provider network in Walton and Okaloosa County, Florida through advocacy, coordination and education. Panhandle 2-1-1 offers resources for Substance Abuse and Mental Health needs in our community at all times.

Walton County Prevention Coalition
Our mission is to reduce substance abuse for youth and families by developing an anti-drug coalition, which will be a cross-section collaboration of community entities.

Lakeview Enters Agreement with New Affiliate in Defuniak Springs

Lakeview Center and Chautauqua Healthcare Services (CHCS), formerly known as COPE (Chautauqua Offices of Psychotherapy and Evaluation), have entered into an agreement for affiliation. Dennis Goodspeed, vice president behavioral health services - Walton County, will lead operations at the Defuniak Springs location.

Dennis spent a lot of time with the CHCS team during 2018. He's lived our Mission, Vision and Values for more than 40 years which makes him the perfect person to transition our new team members. Approximately 100 new colleagues will officially come onboard on March 31.  We have partnered with CHCS on numerous initiatives over the years and their team shares a similar culture which will make for a smooth transition.

Together we'll be stronger and impact on more lives in Walton County.

New Beginnings

We’re ending the year with news of a friend and colleague who has announced his retirement. Dennis Goodspeed will leave us on January 31, 2020. Dennis has worked at Lakeview for more than 40 years, where he started his career here as a practicum student and intern in Outpatient. Over the years he had many different responsibilities with the behavioral health division and ultimately went on to oversee all of Lakeview’s behavioral health programs and services as the division Vice President.
