FAMILY SUPPORT TEAM RELATIVE/NON-RELATIVE CAREGIVER PROGRAM
The program philosophy of the Family Support Team (FST) Relative/Non-Relative Caregiver Program is to provide in-home services to assist caregivers and help maintain placement of children that have been removed from their biological parents through the state of Florida. We provide case management to the clients which can include the following: linkage to Access benefits i.e. Medicaid, Relative Caregiver Funds, and food stamps, linkage to community resources to assist the caregiver with needed items for the child(ren), provide information regarding parenting education, stress reduction, safe sleep for babies, and other information as needed per case. We provide weekly progress notes to the unit that referred the family (Protective Services or Protective Investigations). We assist in maintaining the placement of the child(ren) and linking the client to solutions for any needs presented during the duration of the case.
The goal of the FST Relative/Non-Relative Caregiver Program is to maintain the child(ren) in the placement as long as the children are safe and the caregivers are willing to cooperate and receive our services.
Families in Walton County that have involvement with Department of Children and Family Services and Family First Network and have had children placed in their care are eligible to be served in the FST Relative/Non-Relative Program.
